praise-names which are traditionally used to respectfully address an individual of that particular surname, when asking for something and when saying thank you. Each
praise-name is unique to each clan and contains history about that clan's forefathers and their exploits. EmaSwati people of yesteryear used to have this trove of
praise-names memorised and used frequently in daily address but waning cultural interest and application has seen the new generation struggle to all but memorise and use a
