The origins of the Turkic people are a matter of contention among scholars. Yunusbbayev suggested they may lie in a region stretching from the West Eurasian steppe to
Eastern Mongolia. Some linguists have suggested roots of Turks may be traced back to the West Liao River Basin (modern Manchuria). The Turkic peoples speak related languages
